lding before. With a little gentle coaxing by my master, I entered the house and smelled things I had never smelled before. When my master sat down on what he called a couch then invited me up, I was shocked. I wasn’t used to so much affection. As time passed, and I got used to the house, my master began seeing more of the woman I’d seen in the woods the night I’d found my master. She was called Julia, and I was very nervous around her at first. Eventually I took to her but I wouldn’t let her cuddle me like I did the master. I sighed as I came out of my thoughts and opened my eyes. Life was good, and to make things even better, Julia and master had a pup of their own. It was a little male named Nathan. He was still very young, so I didn’t have very much interaction with him, which was just as well, because his loud howls drove me crazy. As I thought this, I heard the front door open and master call,
“Maya? Where’s my beautiful girl?” With a wag of my tail, I jumped to my feet and ran inside the house.
“Maya, there you are girl!” he cried and got down on the ground. With excitement I knocked him to the ground, licking his face all over. He laughed joyously, then said firmly,
“Off!” I got off immediately, then looked at him with apologetic eyes.
“It’s okay girl.” He said with a smile, “your just to strong for me.” As he said this, Julia came in to the room carrying Nathan. As the three humans sat down on the couch, I contented myself by curling up by the back door in the sun. As I lay in the sun, I smiled my wolf smile. I was part of a pack like I’d always wanted, had a master that loved me, and had room to run as much as I wanted. Life couldn’t get any better.
